                           the United States.

Whereas on April 1, 2002, the Hyundai Motor Company decided to locate an
        automotive manufacturing facility in Montgomery, Alabama;
Whereas this automotive manufacturing plant will be Hyundai's first facility in
        the United States;
Whereas the expected investment in the United States economy from the new
        Montgomery Hyundai plant is more than $1,000,000,000;
Whereas Hyundai's Montgomery, Alabama, facility will employ an estimated 2,000
        primary workers and create more than 4,000 additional jobs in related
        industries; and
Whereas to date trade relations between the United States and the Republic of

    Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring),
That Congress--
            (1) commends the Hyundai Motor Company for its decision to
        locate its first United States automotive manufacturing
        facility in Montgomery, Alabama;
            (2) recognizes that the new facility in Montgomery,
        Alabama, will result in the gainful employment of several
        thousand Americans, as well as foster economic growth in the
        surrounding area; and
            (3) recognizes that Hyundai's decision to locate this
        facility in Alabama is a positive step in improving trade
        relations between the United States and the Republic of Korea.
