                         CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Concerning the national cheerleading championship of the University of
               Central Florida Varsity Cheerleading Team.

Whereas in January 2003, the University of Central Florida Varsity Cheerleading
        Team placed first in the 2003 Division 1-A College Cheerleading National
        Championship;
Whereas the University of Central Florida (UCF) cheerleading squad has
        experienced a steady climb to success with a top-10 national ranking for
        nine of the past ten years, including a third-place finish in 1999, a
        second-place finish in 2002, and now a first-place victory, leading UCF
        to claim its first Division 1-A title;
Whereas the University of Central Florida and its distinguished tradition of
        service to community extends to the cheerleading team as evidenced by an
        award from the National Consortium for Academics and Sports for
        participating in the most community service events last year;
Whereas the members of the UCF cheerleading team have stayed true to the
        principles of being scholar-athletes by posting a cumulative grade point
        average of 3.3; and
Whereas Linda Gooch, the coach of the championship team, has served as the
        cheerleading coach since 1984 following her own participation as a UCF
        cheerleader between 1980-1984, and has served the university with
        distinction for more than two decades: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring),
That the Congress--
            (1) congratulates the University of Central Florida Varsity
        Cheerleading Team on their historic victory as the 2003
        Division 1-A College Cheerleading National Champions;
            (2) encourages President Bush to invite the University of
        Central Florida Cheerleading Team to the White House for a
        ceremony to offer his congratulations on their national
        championship; and
            (3) instructs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to
        distribute a copy of this resolution to each member of the
        University of Central Florida Cheerleading Team, its coaching
        staff, and the University's president.
