 To amend title 18, United States Code, to authorize Bureau of Prison 
                 personnel to carry firearms off duty.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Correctional Officers Protection 
Act''.

SEC. 2. AUTHORIZATION FOR BUREAU OF PRISON PERSONNEL TO CARRY FIREARMS 
              OFF DUTY.

    Section 3050 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding 
at the end the following: ``Such rules and regulations shall permit 
such officers and employees to carry firearms while off duty.''.
