Mr. Miller of Florida introduced the following bill; which was referred 
  to the Committee on Resources, and in addition to the Committee on 
   Armed Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the 
  Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall 
           within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

 To provide for the establishment of a memorial at the site in Alaqua, 
  Florida, of the accidental bombing of a home by an aircraft of the 
 United States Army Air Corps on August 11, 1944, which killed Alfred 
  Cosson, James Cosson, James Cosson, Jr., and Winnie Lee Cosson and 
                   wounded five other family members.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. ESTABLISHMENT OF MEMORIAL, COSSON HOMESTEAD, ALAQUA, 
              FLORIDA, SITE OF ACCIDENTAL BOMBING IN AUGUST 1944.

    (a) Establishment and Maintenance.--The Secretary of the Air Force 
shall establish and maintain a memorial in honor of the victims of the 
accidental bombing of the James and Annie Bell Cosson home near Alaqua, 
Florida, on August 11, 1944, by an aircraft of the United States Army 
Air Corps, which killed Alfred Cosson, James Cosson, James Cosson, Jr., 
and Winnie Lee Cosson and wounded five other family members. The 
Secretary shall place the memorial at or in the vicinity of the site of 
the accidental bombing, the former Cosson home.
    (b) Consultation With Cosson Family Members.--In preparing the 
design and inscription for the memorial, and in selecting the site for 
the memorial, the Secretary shall consult with the three members of the 
Cosson family who were wounded in the bombing and remain alive as of 
the date of the enactment of this Act, David, Frank, and Thomas Cosson, 
and other representatives of the Cosson family designated by the three 
survivors.
    (c) Funding for Memorial.--The Secretary shall use funds 
appropriated for operation and maintenance for the Air Force to acquire 
(if necessary) the site for the memorial and to establish and maintain 
the memorial.
