                                 An Act


 
    To rename the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act as the 
               ``McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act''.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. DESIGNATION.

    Section 1 of the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act (42 
U.S.C. 11301 note; Public Law 100-77) is amended by striking subsection 
(a) and inserting the following new subsection:
    ``(a) Short Title.--This Act may be cited as the `McKinney-Vento 
Homeless Assistance Act'.''.

SEC. 2. REFERENCES.

    Any reference in any law, regulation, document, paper, or other 
record of the United States to the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless 
Assistance Act shall be deemed to be a reference to the ``McKinney-
Vento Homeless Assistance Act''.
