To amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to require 
   medically accurate factual information in any course material or 
            instruction on human development and sexuality.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Medically Accurate Sex Education 
Act''.

SEC. 2. MEDICALLY ACCURATE SEX EDUCATION.

    (a) In General.--The Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 
(20 U.S.C. 6301 et seq.) is amended by inserting after section 9528 (20 
U.S.C. 7908) the following:

``SEC. 9528A. MEDICALLY ACCURATE SEX EDUCATION.

    ``(a) Requirement.--An elementary school or secondary school 
receiving funds under this Act shall not provide factual information 
that is not medically accurate in course material or instruction on 
human development and sexuality, including any sex education, family 
life education, abstinence education, comprehensive health education, 
or character education.
    ``(b) Definitions.--In this section:
            ``(1) The term `factual information' includes information 
        related to medical, psychiatric, psychological, empirical, or 
        statistical statements.
            ``(2) The term `medically accurate' means supported by 
        research, recognized as accurate and objective by leading 
        medical, psychological, psychiatric, and public health 
        organizations and agencies, and, where relevant, published in 
        peer-reviewed journals.''.
    (b) Conforming Amendment.--The table of contents at section 2 of 
the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 is amended by 
inserting after the item relating to section 9528 the following:

``Sec. 9528A. Medically accurate sex education''.
