Expressing the condolences of the House of Representatives on the death 
                       of Senator John H. Chafee.

                    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

                            October 25, 1999

  Mr. Kennedy of Rhode Island submitted the following resolution; was 
                        considered and agreed to

                               RESOLUTION


 
Expressing the condolences of the House of Representatives on the death 
                       of Senator John H. Chafee.

    Resolved, That the House has heard with profound sorrow of the 
death of the Honorable John H. Chafee, a Senator from the State of 
Rhode Island.
    Resolved, That the Clerk communicate these resolutions to the 
Senate and transmit a copy thereof to the family of the deceased.
    Resolved, That a committee be appointed on the part of the House to 
join a committee appointed on the part of the Senate to attend the 
funeral.
    Resolved, That when the House adjourns today, it adjourn as a 
further mark of respect to the memory of the deceased Senator.
