                    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

                           September 25, 2003

 Ms. Corrine Brown of Florida (for herself, Mr. Foley, Mr. Hastings of 
  Florida, Mr. Bilirakis, Mr. Lincoln Diaz-Balart of Florida, and Mr. 
 Keller) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the 
                     Committee on Government Reform

                               RESOLUTION


 
               Honoring Ericka Dunlap, Miss America 2004.

Whereas Ericka Dunlap's remarkable achievements and her resolve to promote 
        cultural diversity and inclusiveness have resulted in her being crowned 
        Miss America at the 2004 Miss America Pageant;
Whereas Miss Dunlap aspires to go to law school and specialize in sports and 
        entertainment law;
Whereas Miss Dunlap is a member of the President's Leadership Council at the 
        University of Central Florida;
Whereas Miss Dunlap is the recipient of the Metropolitan Urban League National 
        Scholarship;
Whereas Miss Dunlap is the recipient of the J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award for 
        Outstanding Volunteer Service to Community;
Whereas Miss Dunlap is the recipient of the National Conference for Community 
        and Justice Humanitarian Award;
Whereas Miss Dunlap performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville;
Whereas Miss Dunlap was crowned Miss Florida as the winner of the 2003 Miss 
        Florida Scholarship Pageant;
Whereas Miss Dunlap's achievements and leadership bring an immense sense of 
        pride to William R. Boone High School, the University of Central 
        Florida, and her hometown of Orlando; and
Whereas Miss Dunlap's strong spirit will drive her to accomplish her goals of 
        cultural diversity and inclusiveness: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
            (1) congratulates Ericka Dunlap on being crowned Miss 
        America at the 2004 Miss America Pageant;
            (2) recognizes Miss Dunlap as a proponent of cultural 
        diversity and inclusiveness; and
            (3) wishes Miss Dunlap much success in achieving her life 
        goals.
