 Mr. Boehner submitted the following resolution; which was considered 
                             and agreed to

                               RESOLUTION


 
Electing the Honorable Richard K. Armey of Texas to act as Speaker pro 
                                tempore.

    Resolved, That the Honorable Richard K. Armey, a Representative 
from the State of Texas, be, and he is hereby, elected Speaker pro 
tempore on this day.
    Sec. 2. The Clerk of the House shall notify the President of the 
United States and the Senate of the election of the Honorable Richard 
K. Armey as Speaker pro tempore during the absence of the Speaker.
