   California, Mr. Pallone, and Mr. Rahall) submitted the following 
      resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Resources

                               RESOLUTION


 
   To honor the 30th anniversary of the enactment of the Endangered 
                          Species Act of 1973.

Whereas the Endangered Species Act was enacted on December 28, 1973;
Whereas the United States has a long and proud tradition of respect for its 
        wildlife and other natural resources;
Whereas species extinction and habitat loss have been identified as grave 
        threats to human welfare;
Whereas for the last 30 years, the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (16 U.S.C. 
        1531 et seq.) has protected the world's animals and plants from the 
        threat of extinction; and
Whereas the Endangered Species Act of 1973 is a model for conservation and 
        habitat preservation throughout the world: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives honors the 30th 
anniversary of the enactment of the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
