                   For the relief of Jim K. Yoshida.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. VETERAN STATUS.

    (a) Entitlement to Status.--Notwithstanding any other provision of 
law, Jim K. Yoshida of Honolulu, Hawaii, is deemed to be a veteran for 
the purposes of all laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans 
Affairs.
    (b) Treatment of Service.--Notwithstanding any other provision of 
law, the service of Jim K. Yoshida of Honolulu, Hawaii, as a volunteer 
member of the United States Army during the period beginning on July 2, 
1950, and ending on January 17, 1951, shall be deemed to be active 
military service from which Jim K. Yoshida was discharged under 
honorable conditions for the purposes of all laws administered by the 
Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
    (c) Prospective Applicability.--No benefits may be paid or 
otherwise provided to Jim K. Yoshida of Honolulu, Hawaii, by reason of 
the enactment of this Act with respect to any period before the date of 
the enactment of this Act.
